I'm María, a Spanish teacher, Argentine, and I live in Barcelona.
I have a degree in Philosophy (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba) and studied Literature at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. I trained as a Spanish teacher at International House, and I've taught from a cultural perspective ever since — because learning a language is much more than grammar and vocabulary: it's connecting with a way of seeing the world.
That's why I organize classes, cultural activities, and gatherings where my students can practice with native speakers in a real, enriching context.
Outside the classroom, I love literature, yoga, traveling, nature, and film. I recently became a mother — an experience that's led me to rethink a lot of things and connect with women and childhood from a different place.
How did María Courses start?
I've always been curious. Reading has always been with me, like a good friend that also opens up new perspectives.
I trained at International House Buenos Aires to teach Spanish, and that's how I discovered language teaching: a way to share and learn from people of very different cultures than my own.
After several years teaching in schools and companies in Buenos Aires, I felt the need for a change and moved to Barcelona. I arrived uncertain, but quickly fell for the city's charm: the mix of Catalan and Spanish, the food, the particular rhythm of living between two languages.
Once I settled in, I started shaping María Courses — I wanted to offer quality content, with relevant, current topics, adapted to each student. That's how the online classes and the book club were born, with a focus on meaningful learning.
Today we're a small team of teachers who share the same teaching philosophy.
I deeply understand what it means to be an immigrant, both linguistically and emotionally — that helps me empathize with my international students and understand their challenges. And my love of reading lets me choose materials that enrich language learning through literature.
Founding María Courses coincided with becoming a mother. They say babies arrive with a loaf of bread under their arm — I think motherhood brings an immense creative force. This has been mine.
My experience
I've taught Spanish and philosophy in schools in Buenos Aires and Barcelona (Academia Buenos Aires, Speakeasy), and at international companies like Chevron and Jan De Nul. I've also worked on communication and cultural management projects — a field that's always interested me for its ability to spark dialogue and bring knowledge to different audiences.

Yanina Grieco
From Buenos Aires. A Literature graduate (Universidad de Buenos Aires), she's taught Spanish as a foreign language since 2012 — individual and group classes, in person and online, all levels.
She's passionate about art in all its forms, especially film, music, dance, and yoga. She's currently studying English and Italian.
Camila
Camila Cipolla
From Buenos Aires. A Literature graduate (UBA), with a postgraduate diploma in Teaching Spanish as a Second and Foreign Language. She started teaching through a university outreach project and never stopped — she's now also a Phonetics teacher (Universidad del Museo Social Argentino).
She teaches with creativity, play, and curiosity as guiding principles. She researches linguistics in her free time, and draws and paints.
Mercedes
Mercedes Seoane
From Buenos Aires. A Literature graduate, with further studies in Translation and postgraduate degrees in Latin American language, literature, and culture.
She combines academic work with teaching Spanish to foreigners, both in Argentina and abroad, where she lived for several years before returning to her hometown.
Julia
Julia Montero
From Cádiz. English Philology graduate (Universidad de Cádiz); moved from translation into teaching in 2022, and now teaches English and Spanish to children, teens, and adults.
She loves discovering other cultures through teaching, and brings new technology into the classroom to personalize each class. She's fluent in English, is learning German, and enjoys writing, museums, concerts, and meditation.
